Re: Pachelbel's Canon

I think this is the video you're referring to:

The piper is Sean Regan, here's his website if you wanted to contact him about his settings.

Re: (Humor) Things a piper will never hear/say

I wish the Open Pipers would spend more time tuning before their solo competitions.

Re: Performance enhancement drugs?

What I've always found interesting is how certain supplements and medications are deemed as perfectly fine for performance enhancement and others are so taboo that the sheer mention of their name can...

Re: Site tune

I'd ask Barry Conway barrymconway@sbcglobal.net. He's the pipe major and the web designer. I think the tune is off their "Debut" album a few years ago.

Re: Best bag for tall, gangly player

I'm 6'3", 185 lbs, 37" sleeve length. I play a bannatyne large bag. I was hesitant to switch to a large a few years ago but did so at the advice of a judge of a similar build. He was very correct.

Re: Piping pet-peeve words

When describing the ornamentation of the pipes, I don't like the misnomer 'slide.' For example, the pipes have silver slides. The slide is the inside of the drone top. The silver is on the tuning...

Re: Piping on the space station

I googled around. Couldn't find anything that looked too reliable but a few sites said astronauts can take personal items into space as long as they fit into a box that is 2 cubic feet and weighs...

Re: 2015 WPBC Question about Triumph Street PB

I'm wondering if the piper was having moisture issues. The PM pulled out the drone reed, blew thru it in his mouth, then seemed to switched it out for another one. After putting the drone back in...

Re: Piper hit by car

The article mentions multiple times that the driver said, "You can claim off me now." Is this a UK phrase? What did the driver mean?

Re: technology vs. tradition...cheating?

This forum always seems to have many negative things to say about drone valves. I'll go the against the grain and say valves and tone enhancers definitely help with strike ins and cut offs. They...

Re: An Alias and Its Use

I can't speak for this particular individual, I don't know who we're talking about, but I know my share of upper level pipers who no longer utilize this forum because of this exact scenario.

Re: An Alias and Its Use

I also disagree with this statement. To me, Pip's posts are difficult to read and it has nothing to do with being lengthy. The two big things I find difficult about Pip's posts are the unusual,...

Re: Interested in Flexible Schedule Pipe Band

Every band I've played with has understood its members have commitments outside of the band and don't expect members to come to every event. It's all about finding a balance. If you can't make any...

Re: Drying Ross MCS clay

What's the humidity like where you are caveal? I have to keep my canisters in plastic bags because if I leave dry granules (or silica gels) out, the ambient air will saturate them in moisture.

Re: drying Ross clay

The blue/pink silica gels have cobalt in them and are carcinogenic. STAY AWAY. The orange/green silica is safe and non toxic as far as I know.

Re: drying Ross clay

The bannatyne system uses silica gels instead of clay granules, no dust there.

Seizure of ivory pipes

With all the recent law changes to ivory, both nationally in the US, and now on a state by state basis as well, there's many pipers avoiding the sale/purchase of ivory pipes, talks of value being...

Re: Ghillie Challum

The book explains this is for the SLOW STEPS of the dance. The dance itself has a slow part and quickstep.

Like you said, it should be played in 40 seconds. 16 measures of 4/4 means 64 beats. ...
