Shipping a chanter youíve sold

Iíve recently sold a chanter and need to ship it, but the tube I have is for a large screenprinted poster and is far too big for just a chanter. So, my question is: what have you used when youíve had...

FS: Naill ABW chanter, 1999 - $200 shipped

Looking to sell this wonderful chanter or trade for a newer Naill/McC2. There is no carving and no issues, and it took very little tape to be spot on. My only reason for selling is because I need a...

Re: G1 Platinum Reeds - Very Easy

Our band used to use Platinum G1's. I learned with an Abedour easy reed (as said previously, good for beginners), and the transition from that to the medium strength G1 was terribly difficult for me....

Re: Stamina

The best advice I have heard is that you need to be able to play for 150% of the time you would normally be piping. So, if you are piping at a wedding and will be playing for 10 minutes during the...

Re: Bass drone in the way

A simple solution (not sure if it's the right one) is to take your bass drone top part off and rotate it so that your cord between your bass drone and your middle tenor becomes twisted shorter.

Re: Stuart Liddell Recital it doesn't get any better

Did you get your COA with his signature on it? To me, that was one of the coolest little extras.

Re: MacRae blowpipe crack

They will definitely replace it, because mine cracked and they had one out to me asap. My instructor said it'd be best to get an adjustable one anyways, and I went with one from David Lindsey. His is...

Re: First ever public gig

The first of our two gigs today was outside in Pennsylvania. It was about 35-40 degrees. My hands froze, which (along with nerves) led to wrong notes, missed grips, etc. BUT, that crowd had been...

First ever public gig

Tomorrow I play my first ever gig with our band. That'll be followed up by my second ever gig later in the evening.

For those of you with lots of experience, for my amusement, can you recall your...

Re: Pro pipers and easy chanter reeds . . .

This is exactly what I did. It took me about 2-3 months to get to two uncorked drones and be able to play comfortably for 30-45 minutes. I recently removed that final crutch (the last drone cork) and...

Re: Drone reeds that strike in at low pressure

My middle tenor was doing this and I adjusted the reeds to be a hair easier. The double tone and gurgle went away while the drones and chanter were engaged. The gurgle (which sounds more like a growl...

Re: Hello all! Please accept my apology NOW.

I'm far from an expert, but with the money you would spend upgrading what you purchased to make appropriate "bagpipe sounds", you could have just purchased a base, used polypenco/delrin model from a...

Re: Strike in location changes?

Yeah, no leaks. I did notice that my tuning pin was waaaaaaaaaay out compared to my middle tenor. When I fixed that, I was able to get it up and running. Last night, our piping instructor and pipe...

Strike in location changes?

I've been having issues with my outside tenor. I've adjusted the bridle and tuning pin and it's still not dialed in. I plan to play with it some more to get it right, but that's not the real...

Re: Two years' practice vanishes overnight?

I feel your pain! I just got upgraded to a band-issued Platinum G1 reed from my very easy reed that I've been playing for the past year. The band reed is supposedly a medium. Even with a band, and...

Re: Dental braces & piping

I played trumpet for 2 years while I had braces. Have them use dental wax on any parts that feel like they are poking their cheek or lips. The wax is a ton of help.

Re: Looking For a New Set for Solo Playing

I have these, and when they're reeded well, they are great. I've got ezeedrones with an inverted bass in mine and love them.
