Bagpipes are for the rebellious side of me. As for my intimate relationship with sound and it's subtleties. It did not begin when I was a child trapped into listening to what my Father called "Good...

Re: competing without bag cover?

I've don't recall having seen anything in the rules about bag covers. only the requirement for highland dress of the competitors. Some judges may consider the bag cover as part of the dress...

Re: D'oh, ignore it and pipe on!

D'oh, ignore it and pipe on!

Too much fun over the past few days. My ancient, by a few standards, mother turned 91 on Friday, and a party was had for that.

Saturday morning assisted with a Stand Down for Homeless Veterans in...

Re: How many variations of the tune, Hector the Hero?

Ahh yes, seen the original and read the story during our bit of research (skimming some of the cream & the scum off the top) if you will. That lead us to several similar variations of the tune set...

Re: Canadian Schottische?

Yes, that is the tune, but again; the fine old tradition of the Xerox page pass arounds and not giving providence to the source material doesn't help many people when they attempt to find lost...

Re: when to say farewell....

Saying farewell to the pipes may occur for all of us someday, as for saying farewell to the band. That doesn't need to occur.

You are an asset even if you are no longer able to march. You can...

And though those Sots were rather small, they had to count them all. And now they know how many Sots to overflow the...

Thank you all for the insights. The Guys found a hard copy of the tune in some other files and it is published as a 2/4 March by J. MacLellan, named Canadian Scottish. It is a 4 part tune, with each...
