Highland Circus Fairylore pipe valve

The valve in my Fairylore pipes seem to have disappeared. I am not sure where it was installed.
Anyone know of a replacement? I think they had a Bor-Mor, but not sure.
I wonder if a Beck valve...

Re: bagpipes on cnn.com

I thought the same thing when I heard, and then saw the clip.
Good job and thanks for getting it done well in challenging conditions.:thumb:

Re: Bowen classic pipe

I have Bowen Classic pipes, and have had only good comments about them. I have only been playing for a few years, but I have gotten comments from "old timers" who know good pipes.:thumb: I have...

Re: Meeting the Neighbors

I live in a rural wooded area. Behind me is a plot of pine trees as far as I can see. One day, after running thru the competition set in the back yard, I hear some faint applause and yelling wafting...

Playing notes or Making music

Isn't it about getting to make music?

Playing all the notes is not the same as making music. Music allows interpretation, expression, and freedom. Playing the notes as written does not necessarily...

Re: Yyeeeesssssssssssss !!!!!!!!!!

If I understand your post, you have cane drone reeds and also drone valves.

That is a lot to get set up correctly by yourself. Cane reed sound great but can be temperamental. Any pipers or bands...

Re: Got my pipes!

Make recordings of yourself playing and then listen to the recordings carefully. You will hear things in the recording that you do not notice while...

Re: Another question about digital recorders

I have had good service with my Zoom - even if it does look like a cheap taser. I agree that it does not do so well in the wind. The wind shield that came with it does not seem to make a lot of...

Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring - on GHB?

Is this one of those tunes that CAN be played on pipes, but SHOULDN'T? I can start on low A and get the jist of it, but it continues outside the range, so playing it would require jumping octaves -...

Re: Vanity Liscense plates

I had my ham call AB4MG until I recently moved to new state. With all the stuff I had to go thru to get everything transferred, it was just too much trouble to get the ham tag. May go back to it when...

Re: Fleshing out the ranks???

No big deal - its just a publicity photo. No one is going to pay much attention anyway. Band member numbers move up and down all the time.

As far as deception, I don't see an issue unless it was a...

Re: Did You Ever Break a Tooth?

I agree with Phil - Reed Wrangler works great! I left mine a little long, so when I bite down too hard, it just closes off the tube and restricts the airflow until I relax my jaws.

Re: Busker Arrested In England

Yep - once the police ask that you move on...its over.
No longer matters what you want.

Ignoring the "polite request" is just asking for a free ride downtown.

Re: Pipemaker from Gibson Bagpipes Passes Away

"all the bragging he had been doing for so many years...was not just idle boasting, as his work actually did touch pipers in many far away places"

Re: Bowen Classic Pipes

I have a set.
Ringo sent them as a loaner set until my MacLellan order arrived, but I got so many good comments about the sound of the Bowen Classics - I decided to keep them instead. :thumb:...

Re: Piping and Wives (spouses)

My wife likes to hear me play/practice, but not so much listening to pipes on a CD. She prefers smallpipes because she does not have to put in earplugs - but supports my need to practice. Boy, do I...

Re: using a mouthpiece cover

I am also getting good results with the Reedwrangler. I cut mine a little long (and shortened the blowstick), so my teeth would not bite down on the blowstick - just on the mouthpiece. It gives a bit...

Thanks everyone who provided feedback ! :thumb:
I hope to put some of it to use this weekend and see if I can make some progress on a solution. I will post a followup when I see the results.

Re: Great Mouthpiece Debate

I am no top player, but I got better results when I was learning and went from round to oval (with rubber sleeve on both).
Now, if I leave my lips in the neutral position (oval), and press then...

Re: Neck and Shoulder pain?

I have an adjustable length blowpipe - which I have tried at different settings. It is not one of the swivel types, but it is set where I blow facing forward from the center of my mouth. If I let the...

Neck and Shoulder pain?

I have been playing pipes for about 4 years. I had to stop for a couple of months (about a year ago) due to job change, moving, and other activities. When I started back, I started having problems in...
