Re: Hybrid bag breathing

I'm constantly suggesting the Canmore Hybrid to pipers looking for a new bag. I think they will become more popular when pipers get out of the 'Canmore = flimsy green bag' mindset - the hybrid is a...

Re: Hybrid bag breathing

Re: Bannatyne Dri Flo

I actually stopped using my Dri-Flo system after switching to the Canmore Hybrid, as it breathes so well. Just a tube trap with a Trap-Dri in it.

Also note that Canmore won't honour their 2 year...

Re: Bannatyne Dri Flo

A fair number of pipers (including myself) are using the Dri-Flo with a tube trap and a Trap-Dri in the tube. Directs airflow to the back of the bag and the Trap-Dri captures a surprising amount of...

Re: Who'd have thought… (Squealing drones0

Sounds like it's more a drone reed calibration issue more than anything. Adjustments have to be made depending on how the bag fits, where you're striking in and chanter reed strength.

Re: Worlds - filling and test their bags

In that case, the few extra slaps help to keep the cane tongues pliable up to line

Re: Worlds - filling and test their bags

Checking to see if all their (usually cane) drone reeds are seated and not floating in the bag.

A few taps on the bag will confirm either situation while there's still time to bow out of formation...

Re: Chirping?

Could be that the holes aren't completely covered, reed too dry, too much tape on high G...a few possibilities.

Favorite solo reed?

Anyone here have a certain make of solo chanter reed they use religiously? Or do some people switch it up and try multiple makers (like myself)?

Re: Is travel to the UK in October a good idea?

I don't foresee any travel issues around Brexit. However, when the pound crashes, you can buy chanters, reeds, bags, etc. galore with the favorable exchange!

Re: Band reeds - what do you use?

We've just switched to Shepherd molded reeds in our earlier McCallum band chanters - so far, so good. A bit lower pitched and very stable.

There's lots of info on the Blackwood Naill here on the forum. They are excellent chanters overall. Great response and harmonics.

Band reeds - what do you use?

Trying to get an idea of what bands out there are using for chanter reeds, out of interest and to gauge what we should try in our early McCallum band chanters. Cheers!

Jori Chisholm has posted some good information on the chanters on his Facebook site and Bagpipelessons.com

I'll be ordering one from a Canadian supplier when they come in.

Can't go wrong with the Bannatyne Dri Flo system. Lightweight, easy to maintain, very little drone volume loss.

Your 2019 setup?

I had asked last year what (if any) changes people had made with their pipe/bag/chanter/reed setups - what's the plan for 2019? Any changes from 2018?

I'm currently playing a set of Naills with...
