How old is the chanter? What is the diameter of the throat. You can gently check with the smooth shaft end of a twist drill that fits.
It ought be 4mm at minimum...if an old(er) chanter it might...

...yes...the liguid ( not thick) crazy glue. Mask either side of the crack...lay a line of glue down ...suck the open end hard to try to draw it somewhat into the crack. Don’t clamp.

Does the chanter gurgle on low G?....if so the reed is definitely too light for you.

What brand of reeds? Do you know the h2o strength of the offending reeds ?

The real deal will normally feel cool to the touch...whereas the imitation will feel same as the ambient temperature.
