Competing without bag cover?

I recently switched to a Gannaway zippered bag. My old bag cover doesn't fit great and leads to slipping and thus poor playing.

When I practice without the bag cover, the bag stays up nice and...

Re: Drone reeds roaring

This is absolutely essential for McCallum pipes of a certain vintage (my 2013's included). If the midsection of the bass drone is more than 2 fingers up, there's very little chance of a good start. ...

Fix leaky bass stock for cheap?

I recently got an old-ish (mid 90's?) set of Shepherd pipes for very cheap. They're great, except for a pinhole leak through the bass stock.

It's difficult to see exactly what the issue is, but...

Re: Winter Storm 2018 1st Time

I did the workshop two years ago. Some classes definitely crack out the pipes. Ken Eller put on a good class on pipe efficiency where everyone was checking their pipes. There was another class on...

Re: Accord Bagpipe Tuning app for Android

I love this app. I use it every time I fire up the pipes.

I'm glad that I bought it when the full version could be unlocked for $10.

Unfortunately, I know several novice pipers in my band that...

Re: Surefire chanter reeds?

Ideally, the promise of synthetic reeds is temperature and moisture stability and longevity. IF it ever got close in tone, it would be worth it. Same as drone reeds.

Re: Surefire chanter reeds?

Ordered one a year or two ago. Pure junk. Can't be tuned in any of three chanters I tried: McCallum, Shepherd, Warmac

Some notes are screaming high and some are incredibly flat.

I want to...

Re: New Hampshire piping scene? Manchester?

Every state in New England has its own highland games over the summer. There are also other competitions outside the games. I don't think there's a better place to compete in the US.

MA and NH...
