try batters gloves, make sure the palm is not padded, takes a little getting used to, definitely need to work with them to get the feel.

Pearl S-885WL is a solid piece of H/W, have used at games for the last couple of years, no problems. the 885 is concert length, plenty of height to spare.

I'm 6'2, and use the Premier XL 6910 Carrier as well, plenty of length to spare. as metioned before, would be pretty simple to add length to the chest bar if needed.
