Re: Predictions for the Next Decade

I know RMM two years ago at Pleasanton had two uniforms - the common long sleeve shirt and waistcoat, then short sleeves and no waistcoat the next day.

As to the jacket, around here the lack of...

Re: Knowing when a hide bag is done

When it won’t hold air, even after seasoning.

Or the skin develops a thin spot or hole.

Re: Predictions for the Next Decade

Same. I'd be happy to never have to wear that ever again.

I'd be down for some hose with patterned tops. For my solos, I wear argyle-top hose and often get people asking about them/where to...

Re: Eezeedrone reeds

As others have said, small movements of the bridle are important. If you see it move, it moved too much.

I’m convinced you can just look at these reeds a certain way and the bridges adjust...

Re: PM on the rampage!

And have instrument issues.

In 2016, when my band was in Scotland for the Worlds, we stayed at the same dorm as 78th Halifax. While there, we got to sit in on some of their rehearsals and I saw a...

Whoa now. I feel personally attacked here.

Not really. But I do fit that description.

Re: Suggestions for solo march tune with "fat" low gs

Does EUSPBA have a requirement for which parts to play?

WUSPBA, I believe, has a rule stating that if you’re playing only 2 parts of a 4-part tune, you have to play the first two parts.

Re: Forum activity levels

I check in almost daily but post fairly infrequently unless I feel like my posts are adding to the conversation and are (to the best of my knowledge) accurate.

I will say that I do enjoy reading...

Re: Tuning pin hemp leak

While this may work, I would only recommend this if you leave your tenor tops on when you pack the pipes away. I take my tops off and wouldn’t want little fuzzies from my case, or hairs and whatnot...

Re: Tuning pin hemp leak

Are you hemping the pins the right way? You said after you hemped them up the problem went away, but came back after the hemp compressed. Sounds like the hemp could be high in the middle after you...

Re: Kilts and proper kilts, Oy vey ist meir....

This discussion comes up from time to time.

Pipers (and drummers) aren’t the only musicians who are “expected” to wear a certain thing when performing.

Most symphony orchestras wear tuxedos...

Re: Stolen smallpipes in Tucson, AZ

This. About 10 years ago, someone stole my trumpet out of my truck. Called every music store in the area and gave them a detailed description of it. Got a call that night from a store about 20...

Re: Canmore zipper durability?

I once had a bag (different make) that the zipper was solid, but the zipper pulled away from the bag after about 10 years leaving a gaping hole.

Made the last half of that parade REALLY hard to...

Re: Canmore zipper durability?

If it’s the same TiZip zipper that most other bags use, it’ll last a good, long time. Just make sure to keep it lubricated with the silicone lube.

Re: Temperature and Humidity effects on Piping

Are we ignoring the fact that the reeds are still exposed to the atmospheric air through the bore of the chanter/drones?

And how long does it take for air taken into the lungs to saturate? Would...

Re: Leather Pipe Bag Tie-in Issue

Make a leather punch out of a copper t-joint by filing the edge sharp and use that to recut the holes if they’re too small. Pick a diameter of tubing a little smaller than your stocks.
