Re: Unusual uses for bagpipes

No! No! No! That's ceiling fan calibration. Think I'll post how I'm going to repair my bass drone top after it's done.

Re: 3D Printed Bagpipe Accessories - Ideas?

I love 'em! "Bagpipe bassinets". Good for drones and chanters. Won't wake the babies.

Re: Christmas Tunes That Fit Pipe Scale

Thanks guys! I remember playing a lot of these tunes years ago. Trying each one out, I quickly found out that some of them weren't meant for pipes. With this tune list at hand I should be O.K.

Christmas tunes that fit bagpipe scale

What are the Christmas tunes that fit easily on our piping scale? Which sound best on the pipes? I'm not looking for the sheet music. After nearly 50 years of playing, I think I can figure that out....

Re: New Regulator!

That link works for me. Beautiful outcome. Looks like it came that way. When can we expect a sound file?

Re: New Regulator!

Would love to see it too. Too many hoops to jump through to view it on that site though. Does sound like an interesting idea.

Re: Wax for Sealing Cane Drone Reeds

Like Bob so expertly put it, you should be cutting the reed on the open end if it needs trimming. Any candle wax or sealing wax from Michaels stores will work for the end you don't cut. Color doesn't...

Re: Good pipe bag seasoning?

I've been posting my DIY recipe here for some years now for pipers that would like to make their own and know what's in it.
The bags made by the previous owner of L&M lasted pretty long without...

Re: Scottish Smallpipe Pipe Bags...

It looks like Ross Ainslie is playing a sewn hide bag without grommets on his smallpipes in the YouTube clip recently mentioned here. They sound wonderful but that might be because it's him playing...

Re: Tying-in Cord - Waxed Polyester or Nylon

Just tied in an L&M bag today using artificial sinew found on eBay. 60 feet of 70# Test cost $5.25 and was delivered in about four days with free shipping. Worked really well using Andrew's very good...

Re: Good pipe bag seasoning?

If you want it to last thirty years, use 30 year old Scotch. If I paid a thousand dollars/pounds for a bag, I would use 1 cup really thick tea made with about a cup of brown sugar(not hot enough to...

Re: Good pipe bag seasoning?

My seasoning isn't quite thick enough to wrap in foil but it is tasty. I never have to bring any with me and can make it just about anywhere when needed.

Re: Good pipe bag seasoning?

Never used Airtight or any other commercial seasoning, because I don't know what's in them. I have been using an old recipe I got in Edinburgh of really strong tea with brown sugar for the past 45...

Re: A chanter for smallpipes with normally spaced holes?

I believe the size of the holes allows for some leeway in their spacing distance.

Re: Simon Hope Smallpipes

You should be able to make these easily enough. The simplest way would be to cut a circle with no leg. Apply a small amount of gel super glue on the hinge edge. Let dry ten minutes. Done! The flapper...

Re: New Abbey Pipe Band

Since at least six of the pipes have matching ribbons, I suspect this is a photo of the band on their way to or from a gig or competition and do have kilts somewhere.
