Re: Music Theory Book for GHB?

I often go to click 'like' or even 'love'. I wish there was one as often you want to endorse someone's post but don't want to start a new post just to do that - like here, lol!!

Is it or isn't it?

To continue an earlier discussion-----
I wrote a Theme (Ground) in an irregular time signature, to appear at the beginning and again at the end of this piece (see below) I then wrote Variations.

Signature strip on here

Can someone please remind me how to change the gobbledegook letters and numbers above Willie McCallum and Jim McGillivray Lacrimae, to Callum Beaumont Mo Chridhe? I'd rather Callum wasn't that jumble...

Music or Sport

Watching the grade 1 bands compete on Saturday I was struck by how with some, you were immediately aware they were there to play music. And that's what they did. With one, the band exuded anxiety...

How about contacting IDPB Stuart Liddell, Johnstone Keith Bowes, or Dollar Academy Callum Beaumont or some of the others - Boghall and Bathgate too, etc etc etc, - who have great educational...

Re: Scottish Power Worlds Medley tune?

I can't decide if choosing to play a theme (highlight?) from the piobaireachd, in a pipe band competition setting, might affect their ranking. You might think it shouldn't or doesn't, but people have...

Re: Integration pipes/song/dance

These are GREAT examples - but from the Macedonian one I could imaging someone singing Canntaireachd and then launching into the piobaireachd tune on chanter or pipes, and with the Appalachian one...

Re: Music Theory Book for GHB?

I'm not sure it's a music theory book that would serve you best. If it WAS music theory you wanted, get a general music theory book, as pipers

(and they'll tell you this themselves) are often not...

Re: When is a Piobaireachd not a piobaireachd

Ah, this may be where we differ Keith! Or maybe it's the glass of crystal clear mineral water I'm drinking as I type!

Now I think that 'dead and alive' is perfectly possible. Whereas I'm not so...

Re: When is a Piobaireachd not a piobaireachd

The perspectives are interesting Keith. Whether or whether not the St Kildans ever had any instruments or had any links with bagpipes was neither here nor there in my being inspired by an article in...

Re: When is a Piobaireachd not a piobaireachd

'The original question Heatherbell asked was if what she was doing could be called 'piobaireachd'. I simply pointed out that to be piobaireachd as the word simply means piping it would have to be...

Re: When is a Piobaireachd not a piobaireachd

I'm looking forward to posting a piece of music here for discussion if you will. It's not being recorded till August 19th though and as it involves multiple parts I can't sing it to you. I set out to...

Re: When is a Piobaireachd not a piobaireachd

Re: When is a Piobaireachd not a piobaireachd

Do we have to keep in mind too that many of the titles are not original titles of the tunes? Wouldn't it be interesting to follow a tune's title through the ages? Why was it written originally, for...

Re: When is a Piobaireachd not a piobaireachd

Yes I like that. Just to clarify, my 'teasing out' was about my subject matter, which is the inspiration for my distilling down to the simplest form in the music - my wool is the outside situation...

Re: When is a Piobaireachd not a piobaireachd
