Re: What's your least favorite type of gig?

Any gig where, after I'm done, I have to chase down the folks who hired me to get paid...or who try to stiff me!

Re: Why does a piper play a gig like this?

Here in Central Texas there was a street band PM, largely self-taught, who dominated the local piping scene for over 40 years. He became very well known and was a pro at appealing to shtick,...

Re: 2019-version Selbies?

Bought a set of Selbies, inverted bass, back in 2012 to put in my ABW Dunbar drones. Outstanding tone. Guess my experience with the inverted bass has been different as it has been very positive. ...

Re: What's your least favorite type of gig?

Re: Bagpipe prices c1950

Just think, if you had picked up four S&I sets for $500 apiece, you could have sold them individually today for $3500 - $4000, a most tidy profit indeed! :)

Re: bagpipe prices c1950

In 1982 I paid $300 for a new Kintail KB-3 full imitation ivory set I ordered directly from Greig Sharp at Kintail. Real ivory and engraved silver sets were not that much more expensive. Guess...

Re: Piper's Version Amazing Grace

Audiences in the States are easily entertained - that is, they are there for the entertainment, not the appreciation of the music.

Re: Piper's Version Amazing Grace

Good information PCP, thanks. Yes, over the years I've been told by numerous organists that I am playing in Eb. Just learned something else new, that Fire Dept bands are playing AG uptempo and...

Thanks for the explanation. My question goes back to the mid 1980s, I was only on the bagpipe for about two years and the lead snare asked me to play AG for his father's funeral. As I was a...

Re: Iíve met my threshold and itís 15 degrees

15 degrees is your lower threshold, what's your upper? That's important in Texas, where during the summer the heat can get up to over 110 degrees here in Central Texas. Yankees and Californians...
