Re: Hemping joints.

Ah hemping... ask any two pipers how they do it and youíll get two completely different answers

I find joints done solely with unwaxed hemp tend to swell with moisture and spin on the pin. The...

Re: Glenfiddich pipes and chanter makes?

Iím sure this will open a can of worms, but thereís nothing wrong with the chanter pitching around 474. Some (myself included!) actually prefer the slightly lower pitch.
If youíre not playing in a...

My bands rehearsals are typically 2 hours, with an hour on practice chanters and an hour on pipes.
Once on pipes we...

Re: Kilts and proper kilts, Oy vey ist meir....

Re: Can anyone identify these?

Yes, the mounts would be orange if they were catalin. These look to be ivory, which the OP could confirm by posting a higher resolution picture with the Schaefer lines visible.
OP also doesnít say...

Re: Can anyone identify these?

Re: Video and audio recordings

I use a Zoom H2n with a windsock and the gain turned down. Works well both indoors and outdoors.

Breadalbane drones with G1 cane bass, Ezee tenors and a Kyo laminate chanter with a Troy reed - all tied into a Begg Sheepskin bag.
I agree with Patrickís comments on the Xtreme bass, if I werenít...

Re: Too Much Tape

Are you using the same chanter and chanter reed as the rest of the band? If youíre sinking the reed into the seat and still using a lot of tape you may just be pushing the chanter beyond the limits...
