I also have a set of Dunfion SSP in A, with ABW drones and a plastic chanter. I need to tie them into a new bag, as the old one had a leak.
I have the same problem with the harsh squealing sound of...

Re: Finish for Katalox SSP

I have found that the wander is far less of an issue with the Katalox than with the walnut I was practicing on. Yesterday I also used a generic bore oil on the bit and that seemed to help too, but it...

Re: Any Key of A practice chanters aside from the ES Chanter?

My set up is a McCallum long with a Walsh PC reed and nothing but a little hemp on the reed, and itís balanced out at A=440. Mind you the C# is closer to Cn, thatís how flat it is, but the other...

Re: Pipers Dirk

Dirks usually have a little bar on the back to which is attached the leather Ďfrogí which is the strap-thing which dangles the scabbard from the waistbelt. My dirk from Pakistan came with a frog of...

Re: Any Key of A practice chanters aside from the ES Chanter?

Most Ďlongí PCs will be pretty close to A440, so with a little bit of trimming of the reed and maybe some wax you should be able to get there.

Iíve heard it done by the Brian Boru Pipe Band. They play it in a set with Brian Boruís march, you could find it on YouTube.

I donít suppose youíre thinking of Piobaireachd but Iíll say it anyways, Lament for Patrick Og or especially Flame of Wrath have good stories.

Re: Buggered up Ezee tenor

Yeah, like I said, I switched each tenor reed between drones and found the problem was the reed, not the pipe.
