YES. disassemble to extent you can and clean up with warm light soapy water.

If looking down the mouthpiece tip you’re liable to see brown-y looking dried crud. That same stuff can accumulate...

This is a good idea...getting the right size is difficult. Some years ago I replaced the bridles on a popular brand reed with what I thought was a good fit O ring ....it didn’t work well at all...so...

O ring(s) can work ok....but in my experience..try to use a few rings that will provide a width similar to the original bridle...and small enough to provide similar compression on the tongue. So on,...

Yes correct...as John Bolt noted...rounding the square shoulders towards looking like a molded reed.
But...in my experience with a standard Shepherd Easy-Medium reed ( ~30/31”) ....the 1-3 light...

I also take a few minutes with a smooth metal file and smooth off the sharp edges of the bolt head.....Othewise it will cut thru the tire tube material.

I use two wide rubber bands of bike tire tube to cover over the nasty bolt head on the oft supplied clamps.

..gotcha....but of course the O rings work well because they’re compressed by the outside clamp. The stretchy rubber tape doesn’t shift in my experience if you wind it snug into the groove...it...

Rule of thumb is the reed will drop about 2” h2o strength and steady off after a bit of playing ..several tunes/sets ( and in my own experience) ...so you’ll want to know the reed strength after...
