Re: Henderson White Harmonic Drone Reeds
YES. disassemble to extent you can and clean up with warm light soapy water.
If looking down the mouthpiece tip you’re liable to see brown-y looking dried crud. That same stuff can accumulate...

Re: Replacement drone reed bridles?
This is a good idea...getting the right size is difficult. Some years ago I replaced the bridles on a popular brand reed with what I thought was a good fit O ring ....it didn’t work well at all...so...

Re: Replacement drone reed bridles?
O ring(s) can work ok....but in my experience..try to use a few rings that will provide a width similar to the original bridle...and small enough to provide similar compression on the tongue. So on,...

Re: Radical reed shaving
Yes correct...as John Bolt noted...rounding the square shoulders towards looking like a molded reed.
But...in my experience with a standard Shepherd Easy-Medium reed ( ~30/31”) ....the 1-3 light...

Re: Radical reed shaving
Rory Grossart posted a very helpful reed adjustment piece on his MG Reeds web page.
He mentioned one method I’ve used for donkey years...rounding the square edges of the blades.
On...

Re: Thoughts on bottle traps?
Some valid points you have. IMO the cloth gets saturated too quickly to continue to be viable ie ..retain moisture....especially on a cold day outside...; there is no convenient way to change the...

Re: Robert Reid bagpipes
.I’d understood the stock bores of Reid pipes were purposefully tapered and left larger at bottom to “ ..get more air to the reed..”.
I never checked the ‘mid 40’s set I owned for 20+ years for...

Re: Narrow stocks and grometted bags
I also take a few minutes with a smooth metal file and smooth off the sharp edges of the bolt head.....Othewise it will cut thru the tire tube material.

Re: Narrow stocks and grometted bags
..gotcha....but of course the O rings work well because they’re compressed by the outside clamp. The stretchy rubber tape doesn’t shift in my experience if you wind it snug into the groove...it...

Re: Narrow stocks and grometted bags
What you did works well,...what I would have ,..except probably I wud have used stretch rubber repair tape in the groove ...thinking it’s a bit more bulky and cushion-y for the bag collar ring to...

I don’t know of any pipemaker of substance that recommends a submersion oiling. Does anyone here?
