I haven't visited this forum in quite a while, so this was a complete shock. I pray for the strength and peace for his family.
Rest in peace Bob.

Re: New Pipe Band Chanters

Re: If you had one day to live...

Re: What's up with Amazing Grace

Not only has the tune been played to death, I personally find it difficult to listen to it, never mind play it since I played at my father's funeral. It was something I promised I'd do, and...

Re: Age???

I started when I was 6, played my first solo contest at 9 and retired last fall at 45. I wanted to spend more time with my family, and besides, the arthritis was getting bad in my hands.

Also remember the owner of the...

Re: The Day I played My Father To Rest

Howard,

I lost my dad 10 years ago, and I played at his funeral. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
Although the weather was not the greatest, you played from the heart, and I know...

Re: 78th Highlanders Halifax

I didn't realize that the Grand Pubba of piping came from Dubuque, Iowa. I think you should put the brain in gear before the mouth goes in motion.
Just because a band has a military background,...

Re: worst piper I ever heard

It would seem that a lot of people making comments in this thread forget when they started out. I didn't realize there were so many judges on this forum.
Come on folks, we were all beginners once.

Re: Pith helmet w uniform

There's a band in Buffalo, NY that wears pith helmets, and in MHO, they looked dumb. It seems more and more people here worry more about looking like a clown, then how they, or a band can play. I...

Re: What would make you stand up and notice?

Nothing quite like hearing Clan McFarlane coming up to the line playing "The Children" complete with harmonies.
Lochanside is also great when played with seconds by a well set up band.
