Re: Shouldn't there be threads in drone seats??

I really don't want to poke the bear or stir up the hornet's nest on this, but in all of the the anti-tap posts, I haven't seen one good reason why not. Other than, you don't have to if you do it...

Re: Using Ross MCS, Drone Reeds Still Wet

I'm in Denver and use the Ross MCS. In fact almost everyone in our band does. It takes hours of playing before the drone reeds get any moisture on them. Try drying the litter out for 5 minutes or so...

Re: Beginner band in Colorado for me?

As Charlie said, lots to choose from. Here's a link (https://wuspba.org/bands-list/) to a list. Scroll down to Colorado. Although it sounds like NoCO may be a great choice for you. I'm with Michael...

Re: Colorado Great Plains..a lonely place for piping

In our Band, based in Denver, we have a piper that comes down from Greeley and yet another that drives up from Monument. They can't always make all practices and gigs, but make every effort to do so....

If it's for Paddy, Sean, Kevin & Matt, our band played for them in 2015. No such request for Bb chanters was made.

Re: CelticPipes bar line removal

Ah, thats the icon next to the entire line icon. It looks like a single measure with the big red X drawn through it. All the rest of the previous directions remain the same.

Re: CelticPipes bar line removal

Look for the "Structure" icon in the toolbar. It look likes a music staff (five horizontal lines). Click on it. It should bring up a small window that has music notation structure in it. Click on the...

Re: Celtic ancestry.

That's true. It's just what was given me. They do indicate overlaps of heritage, especially in GB. My Irish named ancestors go back in documentation to the 18th century in England. So, no diaspora...

Re: Celtic ancestry.

According to my Ancestory DNA results:
40% English
26% Scandinavian
15% Irish
The balance is quite mixed, primarily European. I think my parents would have loved to have known.
With both...

Re: Why an inverted bass drone Reed?

From my meager band experience, it is related to stock bore. Some of our members have classic pre-WWI pipes that have the narrower bore and have to use the inverted bass drone reed. My, and others,...

Re: Length of the Blowstick (no joke...)

I found that different bags take different lengths of blowsticks. On my current Ross extended small I use a 12". On a Bannatyne extended small I used a 10". So, perhaps that might affect a choice...

Many folks in our band have had good sucess with the Earaser (https://www.earasers.net/collections/musician-s-hifi-earplugs) brand. What I like about them is they are not held in via compression of...

Re: Question about tuning and Hz

Interesting, my band just bought the MacCallum MC2 Gold chanters last year and we pitch just around 475 real consistently. Does the reed make a difference in pitch as well?

Re: Thread tape on tuning screw?

Having attended a class given by the great Terry Tully just this year at Winter Storm, he uses teflon tape on his tuning pins as well. He recommended wrapping the tape from the top to the bottom in a...

I've had tinnitus since I can remember. Perhaps marching band in Jr. High. I don't know. However, I think once used to the lesser volume of sound, one can tune just as well. I tune the drones for our...
