Re: Wireless Hygrometer Sensor and Data Logger

I keep this in my pipe case:

You can set temp and humidity alerts as well. I’ve been using it for almost 2 years now.

Lee and Sons Bagpipes

Hello Everyone!

A few years ago (2016), there was a short thread about the then ‘new’ Lee and Sons bagpipes based on an 1800’s Thow design.

Has anyone else heard or played these pipes since? ...

Re: MG White Mamba Drone Reeds

If applicable, make sure your drone top is fully seated/screwed down. I had a helluva time with an unsteady bass, only to find by accident that the metal cap on my poly bass drone was loose(!). ...

Re: Need opinions on a GHB first set

I’ll second Doug MacPherson’s pipes! They were my first set. I wanted a quality set that you don’t see everywhere. They sound great! And Doug is great to work with.

I got a poly Crisler set...

I like it.

After an unpleasant St. Patrick’s parade in the cold, pouring rain on Saturday, I was able to disassemble my...

Re: Child's practice chanter or standard?

My son switched from child size to ‘standard’ when he was 9 and he is of average hand size.

His birls suffered a little until he readjusted; so I’d say go with the standard size.

Re: Raglan Road by SLOT in Tully’s vol 4?

Thanks for the replies, folks, but dawning of the day and its harmony are not the issue.

I was asking if Tully wrote out what he plays as the slow aire Raglan road intro in his 4th book, as it is...

Raglan Road by SLOT in Tully’s vol 4?

Pekaar’s index lists Raglan Road in Tully’s vol 4.

Can anyone confirm the existance (or lack thereof) of the slow aire and seconds in the book?

Re: 3/4 or full size GHB

My son started at 9, and he is of shorter size...

I did initially think about a 3/4 set, but settled on used Dunbar P2.
He is on a small bag with the shortest adjustable blowstick with shortest...

Re: Ready for 1st Band Performance???

Oh yeah, with this method, air flow is the same as playing, so cut offs and strike ins are the same as your normal technique.

Re: Ready for 1st Band Performance???

Here's how I silence chanter reeds...

I cut a strip of the paperbacking* from stickers to 1/4" x ~1.5". Fold at ~1/3. Insert short end into reed mouth. Use a dental elastic or piece of hemp to...

Re: Ready for 1st Band Performance???

As has been said, the PM knows what he is doing.

I will add... There are a lot of things going on while marching, so 'just playing drones' is a great way to get the overall mechanics down. Mind...

Bummer about your situation.

The Lawries are the only irreplacable set. If they sound accordingly, keep 'em.

Sell the rest.

Re: Shepherd Mk2 chanter, bench design pitch

I regularly see 478-9 in the MK3 with Shepherd molded reeds in it.

I have been told the MK2 is ~475 as well, but I haven't spent much time with it yet to confirm.
