Re: John Ban Mackenzie bagpipes

Many thanks for the useful info, and I note your points.

I do know the pipes were being played regularly until 20 years ago.

I'll get a photo of the chanter in the stock, after business at the...

John Ban Mackenzie bagpipes

Hi, I've recently been given a set of pipes to take a look at, which I believe to be made by John Ban Mackenzie, who according to Jeannie Campbell's book, was making pipes between 1840 and his death...

The long story short, is that I've had a Plaid Brooch since I was a kid, which my mother had found in a...

Re: Bagpipes as carry-on luggage

If flying on a Budget Airline (EasyJet, RyanAir), I pay for Priority or Speedy Boarding which lets you actually carry on your Carry-On luggage. A lot of passengers without this get made to put their...

Plagiarism Check?

A hornpipe I wrote for somebody's 40th birthday. Just wanting to check if I've unwittingly plagiarised any other other tune at all? Thanks.

Re: Sheepskin tone: Roddy MacLeod speaks out

That sounds like a problem with the skin? I'm also a profoundly wet blower (see my previous post), but the outside of my bag doesn't get sodden It's just my reeds and drones. I'm assuming you're...

I was forced to change from a Ross setup back to Sheepskin last year due to the band changing to sheepskin.

Unfortunately I've found it difficult to compare any difference in tone between the...

The Wexford Hornpipe

Does anybody know where this is published (as a pipe tune)? Googling it only returns it as being written in Gb, but I've heard it played on the pipes before..

Thanks
Glyn
