Refurbishing old Rocket Reeds

Would anyone know if this is an option?

I have two sets of rocket reeds that I've been playing for a long while now and they are pretty worn. Recently at a piping workshop, I was advised to...

Re: What Were/Are They Thinking?

I own a set of 1950 era Hardies. I've never had a negative remark about my pipes; but I have noticed that most of the top performers play other makes. Perhaps certain brands lend themselves to...

Refurbishing Rocket Reeds

I've had the same set of Rocket drone reeds for about six years now. I'm very happy with them; and was wondering if there was a way to purchase new bridles/tongues or send them back for refurbishing....

How can I tell the new Naill chanter apart from the older version

Is there any way to tell the newer Naill chanters apart from the older ones by appearance?

Feed back on wooden chanters for Shuttle pipes

I've been trying to rejuvenate my shuttle pipes after not having played them in a long while. I'm not terribly crazy about how the current reed responds in the chanter and as I was about to order a...

Re: Tiny Bubbles-leak, should I bother with it?

Thanks for the help guys, I gave up on the clamps after one broke while I was re-tightening it. I went ahead and tied the stock in.

Tiny Bubbles-leak, should I bother with it?

I'm installing a new Moose bag to my pipes. I've followed the directions posted on their site. I've tested it a few times and found a really tiny leak around the chanter stock. It's not to bad but it...

Re: What's wrong with this picture?

I've heard that army pipers who learned left handed had to switch their drones over to the left shoulder for uniformity in the ranks. Not sure what his story is, but there's probably a reason for it.

Re: Brand Opinion - Soutar or McCallum?

I purchased a set of Souter's from Chris Hamilton. They were suppose to be my "beater" set when I went over seas. Now they're my preferred set. If it means anything to you, I had them out in the heat...

Re: March of the O'Neills

Hey Dave,

It's a different tune. I don't know how to post the you tube link to it. I get a error message when I try to cut and paste the address. If you looked up Wicked Tinkers and O'Neill's...

March of the O'Neills

Aaron Shaw of the Wicked Tinkers plays this tune. I think it's a a pretty clever little gem and I'd like to add it to my St. Pat's repertoire. Does anyone know if it's in print yet and if so what...

Re: What Uniform Says About a Band

If people would just browse through the band links section on the directory and take note of who wears what in their respective grades, I'm sure most people will see the point that's trying to be...

Re: Rufus Harley Amazing Grace clip

The fingering looks similar to that of GHBs. I like the staccato parts towards the end where she's free jamming. Blow stick must have a narrow diameter, it takes her awhile to fill the bag up. Really...

Re: SSP video

That was really good playing on a nice set of pipes. Why was he retuning his drone during the set, was that the baritone? It didn't seem to become discordant at any time. I enjoyed his setting of...

Re: 6/8 March ID World's Greatest volume 1

Not sure about that one, I learned it from an old tattered piece of sheet music. If I recall, it might be in Burt Mitchell's great 6/8's book; but I really don't know. I've heard other bands play it,...

Re: Practice Chanter Reed for Naill?

What type of Walsh PC reeds are you guys playing? I've tried the "standard" one and wasn't really happy with it. I got a hold of a "deluxe" reed and that's what I've been playing for the last 3-4...

Re: Good drone reeds for pre-1970s Hardie pipes?

I play a set of 1950 Hardie's. Right now I'm using Selbie tenors with a cane bass. I'm not sure what make the bass is as I've had it for a while. I'm relatively happy with this set up, the cane bass...
