Re: Which book(s) would it be?

Nate, I was thinking in terms of which books, no matter what kind, did people think had the music they liked best. But of course, you're right, its good to narrow down. I have Scots Guard 1. But all...

Re: Retrospective apology?

They were probably very happy with the music they got. I would just let it go. But if you feel you need to, call them and ask them if they were satisfied with your performance. I bet they'll say it...

Re: Practice chanter for Bruce Gandy pipe chanter

Thanks, that is a good idea.

I found a pretty close match, the Naill blackwood regular length chanter.

But it'd be great to get one made. The Gandy chanter is awesome by the way. Very...

Re: Difference between a Salute, Gathering and a Lament?

How a tune is arranged or how the different sections in a piece of music are put together to form the composition is one way of describing musical structure.

A good example of a recognizable...

Re: Difference between a Salute, Gathering and a Lament?

Musically, there is no real structural difference between the 3. Probably just a title, i.e., who's it for.

Re: info on a set of Gillanders & McLeod pipes

I wouldn't sell them short. I would bet you could get $1500 for them if they are in pristine condition. They are pretty rare pipes.
There's a set of Gillanders on ebay right now for $1600.00.

WTB: Chanter stock

Looking to purchase a chanter stock.

Needed to use in place of original stock from old set of pipes with too small a diameter for modern chanters. Plastic, wood, doesn't matter.

Re: Stereotyping.

I don't see how a picture of Susan Boyle insults the instrument. There's no rule against people who don't know how to play or hold a bagpipe holding one. I remember lots of times when someone whose...

Re: Indian/Pakistan bagpipe music

Thanks Tucker, I hope to achieve more proficiency in the false fingerings. Its a bit difficult to be consistent with them though. Maybe I should add a Bryan Boru chanter.
