Re: Bagpipe supplies dealer between Philly and D.C.?

I don't know what part of Philly you'll be in, but WEE HOOSE of SUPPLIES is in Chalfont in Bucks County. It's not far from Warrington and Warminster or New Hope.

Re: Dumb things non-pipers say

After the band's very first local parade, the newspaper had a photo with the caption proclaiming that the band was "The Irish Windbags from Holland". :wow:

Re: "Green Hills of Tyrol": your appraisal

I have never liked Green Hills Of Tyrol. It never seems to end. For some reason it feels to me like it's twice as long as it actually is.
The upbeat thingy is probably what bothers me most about...

Re: Crowd Pleasers?

Around here: Dixie
Also: God Bless America

My guess is that any tune that the crowd recognizes, i.e. Amazing Grace (forgive me for mentioning it) will be a crowd pleaser. While we pipers and...

Re: wedding woes......

Re: wife killed my pc

PinoyPiper, Yep. I agree with your wife. It's your fault. Couches are for sitting, not for storing musical instruments.
My daughter did the same thing to her flute. It was her fault too.

Re: Stone Mountain Highland Games

Nah, it won't rain, Lisa. :thumb: From what I understand, when the games first started the founders checked the weather history and found that the 3rd weekend in October had the least chance of...

Re: Blueprinting Pipes

Why bother "blueprinting" your pipes if you like the sound? The sound is what is important. Have a professional piper try them or listen to them if you don't trust your own opinion. If he says they...

Re: Bagpipe in infant school assembly.

I've done a couple of these. I usually talk about the kilt and where the bagpipes are from. I'll play a tune. See if there are any questions. Then I tell the story of the Pied Piper of Hamlin. At...

Re: Note Helper program

WOW! It's pretty impressive. I ran into two errors, though. I believe the graphic showed a LowA as the correct answer when the note required was actually a highG. Anyway, I noticed the Low G and the...

Re: Horses, Muskets and Bagpipes

If possible, you might want to make a visit to the stable and play a tune or two so you can see how the horse(s) reacts.

My band once played for a wedding in a stable (I know a weird place for a...

Re: Kilt issues

just get a tartan skirt. They're cheaper and you can wear it outside the games. Just don't wear sock and ghillies with the skirt. Wear hose and nice comfortable flats and a nice blouse.

The band is stationed at Robins AFB, Warner Robins, GA. It's 16 miles south of Macon. Warner Robins is also the home of my band, Heart of Georgia Pipes and Drums. BTW, I work at the base.

Re: frustrated, does not play well with others

The best way to learn and get over these drawbacks is to attend band practice every week. Once a month just won't cut it until you learn those important skills needed to play with a group.
If you...
