Re: MAP Teleconference

My question is should the RSPBA be focusing so much on how many grade four bands move up to grade three? Even without entire bands making the jump there are individual players who move up into...

Re: How about BASKETBALL?

I'm cheering for George Mason. I don't watch a lot of American college ball until March Madness, than I just hope on a band wagon and enjoy the ride. It's been crazy this year.

Re: RSPBA MAP Competition Format - Thoughts?

The only thing more difficult than blowing steady is trying to teach someone to blow steady.

Re: RSPBA MAP Competition Format - Thoughts?

Amen to that. I personally don't buy the argument that band tone is SIGNIFICANTLY better than it was ten or twenty years ago. Vic Police in the late nineties, or Strathclyde Police, Frasers, SFU,...

Re: Pipe Maintenance Sessions

Assuming basic maintenance is kept up with the major thing I've noticed is that people assume that Ross canisters fix all moisture problems. Pipes consistently get put away with the reeds and...

Re: RSPBA MAP Competition Format - Thoughts?

What is the DVD instructional content in relation to piping?

What are the fourteen tunes? I've searched the forums and the RSPBA website and no trace of the tune names, just mention of a set...

Re: RSPBA MAP Competition Format - Thoughts?

It appears integration between the two cores will be judged as part of overall musical effect. Unison between pipe corps and drum corps is the starting point for letting the drum corps do what it...

Re: NHL Deadline

Haha, that would be brilliant.

All we need to work out is a draft system.

Re: NHL Deadline

They picked up Keith Carney, not too bad, and a solid backup for Alex Auld. Not a bad day for Vancouver.

Re: Gr 5 solo

Are you allowed to play 2 parts of a 4 part march? If so you could play the first two parts of either Captain Norman Orr Ewing or The Siege of Delhi.

2 part 2/4s - A Mans a Man, 42nd...

Re: NHL Deadline

The Leafs saved their playoff hopes last night by beating Montreal. John Ferguson Jr. said he hopes to reinforce his lineup before the 3 p.m. ET Thursday trading deadline. "We're going to try and...

Re: NHL Deadline

I think the Habs are off auto-pilot so a shakeup-type move might not be on the way. However Ribs moving is a possibiltiy, and maybe even Zednick. The Habs need to make room for top-notch prospects...

Re: NHL Deadline

Canucks are said to be interested in Sheldon Souray. As a Habs fan I wouldn't want to see him moved, he's starting to play like an allstar again. I don't see the Habs making any big moves, they...

Re: 1782 competition described by Faujas
People have a lot better idea of what a good piper should sound like. The human ear can tell what is good and what is bad.....even leaving technique aside.
What's good and bad...

Re: NHL Deadline

The trade deadline may be quieter than usual this year. The cap makes it difficult to move big salary players, and it's earlier so a lot of teams are still in the playoff hunt. Hopefully we won't...

Re: 1782 competition described by Faujas

That's about the only useful thing Faujas wrote. Even though Faujas was ignorant about Piobaireachd it seems pretty clear the tempos he witnessed were significantly faster than what we're used to.

Re: Bagpipes of the XXth Olympic Winter Games

The quality of performance is extraordinary considering it's - 85 C. His rendition of Lament for the Children would easily be competitive in the Clasp or Senior Piobaireachd. I'm simply shocked...

Re: Bagpipes of the XXth Olympic Winter Games

It's been lovely today in Canada, it was a balmy -75 Celsius, so I would hope Mr. Strayer would stop this absolute zero slander. It has been plauging our country for far too long. As for this...
