I just got a set of Kelts. Tried them in my MacCallum polys. The tenors sound great and they are very air efficient. I didn't find them excessively buzzy like some say. They have a nice ring to...

Re: Tone of new MacRae's

Same. Two of my students have them and they sound great. Standard Ez's provide a world class gurgle. Tone is superb.

Re: How Can You Tell Which McCallum Chanter You Have?

I count the flanges on the bottom of the chanter, 3 flanges mark III, one flange mark I etc., but I could be dead wrong about this method. And there are newer chanters that don't fit this at all....

You can rub a candle on the zip to ease it if you run out of lube.

Re: head shakers

My band was walking up to a parade start point when a drunk lying in the gutter said "You gotta stop wearing them dresses and get right with God". We got a kick out of that.

Re: Taps on pipes?

I played it when the Marine bugler informed me his battery was dead. He asked if I knew Taps. I played it. It was fine, no complaints or rude remarks, just satisfied people.

Re: Bass drum head materials...

Really enjoyable vid!
Reminds me of Marine Corp Band BD sound, like a small caliber cannon being fired every time he hits the drum. All he needs is a wooden mallet. A no nonsense style of...

Re: Playing "Taps"

Re: MacDougalls?
