Re: Ceol Sean Down?
I'm finding on the archive.org mirror of ceol sean that there are numerous missing pages of various books. Does anyone know an alternative mirror somewhere?

Re: Ezeedrone reeds....”saxophoning”
+1. I find that when adjusting the bridle, if I can see how much I've moved it, I've moved it too much. When you're near the sweet spot with them, the tiniest microadjustments are all you want

Re: Equipment for video recording?
I haven't really considered this aspect of online competitions. Are there rules regarding what sorts of post-processing are and aren't allowed?
EDIT: I'm not implying in the least that you're...

Re: End of Piping Times and Piping Today.
Print is also nice because it doesn't have the animated ads that infest online piping news sites. I don't mind some static ads being displayed on websites, but I won't visit e.g. pipes|drums due to...

Re: Help me understand Piobaireachd
Listening to a lot of it help. It's an acquired taste. ;-)
I'm sure it's a very personal thing and different ones will resonate with different people. For me this modern piobaireachd by Donald...

Re: robertson pipes
I realize I'm replying to a post that's 11 years old but since this thread is revived I'll put this out for anyone in the future who googles "Robertson" and lands here...
A little while ago I fell...

Re: Adjusting drone reeds to chanter strength
No I think he means shutting off when overblowing. This is done as a means to check the strength setting (and air efficiency) of the drones.
I like to use a manometer and set the tenors to shut...

Re: Why is one PC supposedly better than another?
I have a couple of PCs on which I've bored out the mouthpiece. It makes a huge difference in backpressure. Maybe the high backpressure is intentional but I'd rather focus on my fingering on the PC...

Re: Rasping tenor drone
To verify no leaks: remove the drone from the stock, remove the reed from the drone, cork the top and blow into the bottom. It should be airtight.

Re: Breathing technique...
I second this! The only thing I might add is that I find it helpful to add the additional few turns in a contrasting color. IOW, stock joints are almost always hemped with yellow. So add your extra...

Re: Why are some better than others ?
Oh I'm not saying there's no genetic component! And obviously there are upper limits on everything. But my gut feeling is that practice gets someone most of the way there, and genetics may give that...
