Re: Glenfiddich Tempos

Try giving these a listen - I think what Jim's doing here is pretty cool, and something that I've been trying to reflect in my playing:

Re: Glenfiddich Tempos

I've talked about your exact piobaireachd point with a past gold medallist who asserts something like this as well, and who has cool ideas and expressions that I think make piobaireachd more musical...

Re: Glenfiddich Tempos

For me, whatever the most accomplished solo pipers on the planet currently deem as their best effort is pretty much exactly what I want to hear, and what I consider to be the benchmark. In my...

Re: Gordon Walker

Quiet, you. You’ve been afforded the luxury of a public forum for far too long, not only for your repeatedly inane responses here on so many minor matters, but now most unacceptably on this highly...

Re: Scottish Power - aluminium foil?

100 degree air. hot sun beats down on bag neck, but air is already so hot that the change from the sunlight is minimized. reed may not change much.

65 degree air. hot sun beating down on bag...

Re: Strike-ins, what a pain!

This brings up a related question I have - sorry to piggyback on the OP.

What would happen to the performance and tone of, say, a Kinnaird bass drone reed, if one built a custom nose cone that was...

Re: Who'd have thought… (Squealing drones0

Agreed. If it’s repeatable, that will be interesting!

Re: Who'd have thought… (Squealing drones0

I doubt the bag cover was the cause.

Re: Is travel to the UK in October a good idea?

OK - so, I should clarify.

First, I generally understand life realities and philosophy.

In this thread, I'm looking for specifics around the Brexit situation that could potentially and...

Is travel to the UK in October a good idea?

Hi all - my wife and I are thinking about spending perhaps 10 days or so in the UK, starting around October 1. Let's see if I can ask this question decently...

Given the evolving political...

Re: Mark Lee Rocket Drone Reeds

Interesting - I'm honestly curious about this, since I was using standard Evos for a while before switching to EZs for my tenors (I still use their Evo bass). Is there something subpar you've...

Re: Your 2019 setup?

FWIW, I generally get about 8" of h2o tuning accuracy range with my Kron Heritage drones when using EZ's in the tenors and a Kinnaird Evo bass. In that range, the drones stay spot-on to the target...

Re: Your 2019 setup?

Interesting! For a while now I’ve been dialing my drone reeds to where they shut off at about 6-8” of h2o past where the chanter reed plays (which I’d read was best practice). But maybe 2 months...

Re: Clamptite instead of hose clamps?
