Re: Band reeds - what do you use?

We use Husk ridge cut reeds. Usually pitch 476 to 480 in older MacCallum band chanters, depending on the weather.
Very reliable reeds.

I have found the Braw Tuner an absolute must have for tuning.


To tune to a desired pitch which you can set manually or tune to a given chanter's pitch hit the "low A = " square on the right hand...

From what you say I think the answer is to make a slight bulge in the binding to avoid the very end part of the binding contacting the reed seat too tightly and...

I notice that the binding on chanter reeds finishes short of the end of the reed leaving a mill. or two of the staple exposed.However after inserting and removing the reed in a chanter a few times...
