Re: Good easy free-blowing reeds?

Shepherd straight cut reeds are quite nice in easy strength. Very little resistance and good tone.

Re: Reeding a new Naill chanter

The newer Naill chanters are fairly easy to reed. MacPhee, G1 Platinum, Gilmour, MacLellan, Troy McAllister...among others...work well.

Re: New Pipe Bag Recomondations please.

Medium Canmore Hybrid would be my choice. I assume you're playing the older green Canmore currently?

Re: Reed never stabilises

I'm stumped...if you have a tube to the back of the bag and the bag remains dry (I also play the Canmore Hybrid and know how well it breathes), I'm not sure how there could be so much moisture in...

Re: Ross system and strike-ins

For sure, I believe the strike-in issue is usually a calibration issue more than anything- your reeds will react a bit differently with a MCS cup/insert/hose setup than with no MCS hooked up.

Re: Ross system and strike-ins

I've never had an issue with striking in with the Ross system...or Bannatyne system...or Highland reeds system...etc. It's a lot more to do with reed setup and where you strike in the bag.

Now,...

Re: Ross vs. Moose bags

Yep, Canmore Hybrid, excellent bags. Hefty, comfortable cut to relieve pressure on the forearm and very breathable.

Re: 'Life' of orange indicating gels?

I haven't had too many break, but it's strange that they're not changing back to orange after heating. This started happening about 8 months after using the gels. I've ordered more, so I'll pitch my...

Re: 'Life' of orange indicating gels?

They remain the same color as when I put them in the oven after the drying time as per the Bannatyne instructions. They (must be?) dry, after that much heating time. The cans/bottles of the gels are...

'Life' of orange indicating gels?

Hi folks,

I've been using the Bannatyne Dri-Flo system with the orange silica indicating gels for about a year now. The gels usually go from blue/green when wet to orange when dry. Recently,...

Re: Cutting Bag for Tie-In

I use the 8-point star, as I find it evens the tension when you pull the base of each stock through the holes, reducing the chance of the skin tearing.

Re: Reed ID

I'd agree with Shawn. Very long blades are an Elliott/Sound Supreme trademark.

Re: Moisture: paranoid, or no?

Bannatyne hybrid bags are great, but yes, they hold a significant amount of moisture and without a canister system of some kind, playing time is shortened due to wet reeds.

Re: Nicked the sheep - tips for repairing a hole?

Used a bit of crazy glue - the holes weren't too big and it seems to be holding well. Heck, it's likely the strongest part of the bag now!
