I usually put 2 layers of shrink on. Works better than anything I have found. You do have to re shrink it after a few days of play and eventually replace it. On my small pipes I use a rubber grip...

Electrical shrink tube works great and I have been using it since day one. It works awesome on drone reeds in place of hemp, never a problem!

It pitches at 218 221 Hz or so. I prefer the reed as deep as it will go or 221 Hz, it just sounds better!

Probably because "Daddy did it that way" is my guess. People use all manor of harsh things to clean goo off and actually bore oil works great but I won't say who uses it but l'll get the popcorn out...
