Re: What do you wish someone had told you when you started?

I wish someone had told me about workshops, scholarships, prize money, the Piping Centre, Colleges of Piping, Gordon Duncan, Fred Morrison, and the World Championships.

Until my mid teens I...

Re: Bagpiper gets frosty reception from commuters in packed train

I hope he has liability insurance, playing bagpipes in that small an enclosure can't be pleasant for the commuters... failing to mention his actual playing

Re: What make of pipe bag do you play?

Gannaway. Zippered (big mistake), no grommets.

Re: 'B' gracenote in Piobaireachd embellishments

Some tunes have B gracenotes on taourluaths down from C. It's up to the writer to decide how to write the tune, and up to you to decide how to arrange the tune you are playing.

Re: 'B' gracenote in Piobaireachd embellishments

In lower grade Piobaireachd you'll get away with D where B is written, but upper grades will mark you down. If you want to get ahead from the start, et working on those B gracenotes!

Re: "Acceptable" competition tunes for BOTH Grade 2 & 3

Is Lucy Cassidy not a Hornpipe?

I do consider Susan Macleod far too over played, even though it's a nice tune.

Re: Ireland pipe band list

Yes and no. My girlfriend joked about us moving to Ireland, and I was thinking that wouldn't be half bad if I could find a nice Grade 2 or 3 band to set up near.

This is all very hypothetical, but...
