Re: How many sets do you 'run' at a time?

The keeping them played "to maintain the wood" (or hide bags) argument will probably open a can of worms you can't put the lid back on.

I'm sure there is some truth to the moisture content in...

Re: Kilts and proper kilts, Oy vey ist meir....

I guess to me this is no different than wearing formal dress such as a men's suit. It's a costume as much as Highland wear is a costume. Essentially a sign of formality that you care about your...

Re: Ackland A440 drone reeds!

Nice!

Terry is great to work with also. Listens to feedback and talks about his process. I have a set of the non 440 reeds that I'll play with again. Have a recording of the 440s?

Nice to see you around these parts again Ringo! Purchased my first set of pipes through you, I'll be sure to check out the website.

Re: Kinnaird Edge vs. Evolution

I think the ideas of the EDGE as a product are good.

Physically the grub screw you use to adjust them is far too coarse though I believe. Like a regular bridle, the most subtle adjustments make...

Re: Ezeedrone Bass, strike in issue.

Interesting. Ezeedrones overall to me are touch more mellow and maybe a "darker" sound than a lot of reeds. On the inverted bass reeds, how would you describe the differences between the regular and...

Re: Ezeedrone Bass, strike in issue.

I have a long inverted Ezeedrone bass that's worked really well for me. I have owned and tried regular Ezeedrone bass reeds but they were problematic like others have noticed. The inverted is...

Re: Security Tracking Devices

I've had experience with these types of tracking devices in relation to our pets after we had a several day disappearance scare. The product experiences of mobile tracking were not at all positive...

Re: Reeding a 440 Maclellen chanter

y'all be crazy. It's challenging enough trying to get Bb chanters and drone reeds to play nice.

Re: Kilts and proper kilts, Oy vey ist meir....

I agree. Have you heard of the the Airy Glengarry (https://www.rancocascreekpipeband.com/The_Airy_Glengarry/p5158106_17975086.aspx)? I haven't tried this myself but thought about it. For winter I...

Re: Early Henderson bore sizes

I think you'll find a lot of opinions on this. I do believe from reading over the years that some Henderson years had bottom sections slightly too large which resulted in unsteadiness or difficulty...

Re: Canmore Hybrid bags

I'm actually wondering something similar. I got a swiveling blowpipe for my extended small hybrid canmore and it made a pretty noticeable difference in how everything felt. I had an extended medium...

Re: "B" Flat Set up

I can also confirm that the pitch screws are interchangeable between the Hendersons and MGs. So it sounds like the same pitch screws will work across all these Scottish brands- Ezeedrone, MG, Selbie,...

Re: Gibson PC reeds of different sizes?!?

Interesting, I was just about to purchase one.

I believe Greg Abbott of Abbott reeds (abbottreeds.com/ (https://abbottreeds.com/)) has made/does make, Gibson's practice chanter reeds. With Gibson...

Re: "B" Flat Set up

I also wonder why manufacturers continue to inch up the pitch, because if their new chanter was centered at say 476 it would more than likely still sell just as well. We're looking for new chanters...

Re: Balance Tone Drone Reeds

I think this description very much depends on the bagpipe they are installed in though.

Regular Balance Tone tenors for me have certainly been brighter with more overtones than Ezeedrone tenors....

Re: STOLEN: Silver & ivory Robertsons (UK)

Lord people can suck. Very sorry to hear this.

They have no idea what they have taken and yet it's everything to us in terms of time, memories, serious cost. Like when someone steals a wallet....

Re: Who makes this reed?

I guess my question, with no ill intent and beyond the fact that chanter reeds are double bladed, is why hasn't a synthetic chanter reed finally reached maturity?

We heard about Légère Reeds...

Re: Stories of a broken Pipe Bands Australia

I saw that article and personally had not heard of this before. But a good point made if an Irish piper knowing about it must mean it reaches far. In the article it sounded like there is a power...

Re: Unboxing and review of GlenCoe Black Watch e-Chanter

And cheap! Finally, an affordable (relatively) bagpipe tool.
