Re: Mull of Kintyre - rant

It's not meant to be a pipe band piece...it's a ballad that features pipes for which McCartney has done a brilliant job..if you can do it in a concert setting with a proper singer and a backing band...

Re: Glenfiddich pipes and chanter makes?

Carving the old Naills is an accepted practice indeed...nothing sweeter when done properly and using an old and well broken in MacAllister reed...not sure if trying to get it to play much higher than...

Re: 4 Scots flash mob tunes

Galllant Dunkirk Boatmen is after Bloody Fields...spot on tempo in this whole set...especially Caber Feidh at the end..something civvy bands should take note of...even the top ones.

Re: How many sets do you 'run' at a time?

Re: Kilts and proper kilts, Oy vey ist meir....

The Breton Pipe Bands seem to have little regard for the cultural dress that you speak of...I don't hear any complaints..any they regularly best some of the finest Scottish Pipe bands in...

Re: Drone reeds to tune with 50s Hardie Chanter

It's somewhat dependent on which drones you have by my experience...EZ's work well in my 83 Kintails but they tune right up near the top of the pin....these drones were meant to play around concert...

I can't think of a person who has had a bigger influence on Piping in the last 30 years. His innovations, chanter development, synthetic drone reeds and standardization of chanter reed making is...

Re: Kilts and proper kilts, Oy vey ist meir....

I despise that we are expected to wear what is essentially a costume to play an instrument..I do it because it's a well paying gig most of the time and the public expects it, however, it seems that...

Re: New 6/8 March: 1,000 Hours
