If itís solid nickel you can use a jewelry rouge cloth, or nevr-dull wadding. If itís alloy just use a jewelry polishing cloth ( not rouge)

If you let your pc dry ( too much) between practices and the reed loosens up....just carefully lift it out...give the hemp a good slobbering lick,,,,and set it back in snug to where it was after...

Iirc there was a CD track some years back of a notable band playing a practice chanter set accompanied by drum pads and timpani on various drum cases.

With Any reed.... To adjust its height ( sharper or flatter) and ensure itís secure ,..not wobbly,..and not leaking air past the seat.

Your instructor should show you how to do this properly

I wonder if the piper in the example learned it straightaway and up to tempo on pipes...or used a practice chanter for a few days first.

I like my practice chanters...some more than others...

Thx....Iím also going to try a tiny spritz of ptf spray since I have a small bit left in the can. Good non- petrol lube for doors windows, drone reed bodies,..erc.

To alleviate the too high ( 1 cm) tuning in a particular set of pipes I installed a set of EZ reeds...the Long version instead of standard. Bingo,...cured the issue...now the pipes will tune down...

Yeah...that would do...Iíve removed flat bridles and massaged a tiny bit of talc into the inside surface to alleviate the welded bridle experience with some reeds.
