What you are looking for is the L&M hot dog bag. Medium would work..it is longer and more narrow. This will help a great deal...the canmore is like a football under your arm.

In my opinion, I would find him an instructor and not teach him yourself. Not sure what your plan was, but other have mentioned you teaching him. This way he does not feel as if he is disappointing...

For me, it was a novelty that quickly wore off.
I can see if you use it in a band or some sort. At the time I bought it anything new with bagpipe fingering was something I wanted. Now, not so much.
