Tim,

I very much doubt you have exhausted all the good competition marches, strathspeys, and reels to be found in SG 1,2, and 3 at this point in your piping career, so I see no "drastic need" at...

Re: Magersfontein

As others have noted, the full name of the tune is "The Highland Brigade at Magersfontein". Composer John McLellan won his DCM for service in the Boer War and was present at Magersfontein.

You can...

I believe the final selection for grade 1 bands is by random draw, not judges choice.

Re: Maclennan pipers and a gold medal photograph

Barry,

Thanks for a terrific article! I sincerely hope that the missing Gold Medal will be found - tragic for such a significant piece of piping history to be lost.

I received weekly lessons...

Re: Gaelic College to teach "Cape Breton Piping"

BTW folks, it seems to me that this thread has little to do with "Uileann, Northumbrian, Smallpipes +" or "Other (not GH) Bagpipes". Perhaps rthe Moderator might move it to a more appropriate...

Re: Gaelic College to teach "Cape Breton Piping"

I don't really know what to think of this news. I suppose my gut reaction is that the college should do whatever the board thinks best, and I certainly wish them well on this new course. I am not...
