I'll second Steven Knox - Rythmic fingerwork is magic - you don't need tunes with birls you need to master birls etc then you hit them in any tune!

I switched from an extended small to a medium ross and found it to fit better and reduce stress on my forearm. Perhaps the length of your arms might be one criteria for some people to consider.

If possible try a practise run at home in similar temp. - I know I've had reeds change from 478 from inside to 469 outside which results in an awful sounding high A. - sharpen up your reed.
