Default Re: Installing a sole to a sole-less Pipe Chanter

I have a nice Shepherd mk2 in ABW that my instructor retrofitted for a sole. He dremmelled and sanded a tenon which took him a long time. I think we dry fitted the sole using hemp to prevent it from slipping.

I have played the chanter for over a year with no shifting of the sole.

The sole was added to the chanter while it was my instructorís solo chanter and it served him well for a number of years. I do not regret taking it off his hands when he said he preferred his Sinclair chanter!

Personally, I donít know if Iíd want to risk trying to make a tenon myself.
