Default Steady pressure and repurposing equipment

The group I practice with has a student who has difficulty trying to maintain a steady pressure while playing. As I have the old gauge from a blood pressure cuff rated in mmHg, versus inches of water, I should be able to use it as a indicator of pressure generated by both blowing and squeezing.
and will repurpose it for such.

Has anyone else tried this, and if so has it proven satisfactory in practice?

As for considerations of employment, I'm thinking either a large stopper to set into one of the drone stocks, or a smaller one to use on a drone with the drone reed removed.

I welcome, objective comments and observations you may have.

Thank you,
