This book is such a gem...one of those jewels that every time its turned a new facet comes to the fore. I'm happily humming to myself as I read it, playing air-chanter armed with a yellow highlighter and pencil, taking notes and just having a ball J Adam has been spot on in his assessments. I couldn't agree more.
It's been sometime since a new piobaireachd how-to has been published has it not? A decade or two? What a wonderful addition. Looking over Appendix B and the list of resources, it struck me again how even though we may not live in the "Golden Age" of piping, I can't help but wonder if we aren't in an age that pipers of old wouldn't have term a Golden Age and envied to no end. What an amazing number of thoughtful and for the most part affordable piob resources we have at our fingertips, not to mention a fraternity that at its best is close knit and bound by our enthusiasm for our wonderful instrument willing to share such privileged information for mere pennies of not for free. Considering the political nonsense, cost of publication and difficulties of distribution historically faced by our piping ancestors, we are seriously blessed to live in the here-and-now of Highland piping. A thousand thanks, Jim! Thanks for giving us even greater access to our piping legacy. What a good book. Now, back to devouring it... Cheers, Andre'

Errata:
Page 18, last paragraph, second line beginning "the same time as the low A finger.", should read "the same time as the low G finger.".

Well I bought the book couple of days ago..
Questions tho for those who have received it. Might be a bit early tho. Any issues in the printing for errors etc. Any issues with the download and installation of sound files? Anything not work the way it is suppose to? Asking these so I can take care of the issues that are not up to snuff and correct them if I can. . thanks Johnnie Like I said might be too early. I think that depends on whether you want to call the right pinky the low A or low G finger. In my experience, we name the fingers according to the name of the note that is sounded when we raise it. Even though the in the sentence you refer to, that finger is sounding low G, I think it would still be called the low A finger. Just a matter of semantics, I suppose. Nonetheless, I'd still like to hear about any typos anyone finds. And thanks for all the kind words so far! Cheers, jim

I did find a discrepancy on the website, it says the list price is CAD $38, but then below that in red it says Our Price: $40.00 (as well as the price when you actually check out). I thought at first it might be currency exchange to USD like some websites automatically do, but a quick check at a converter site said it should be $38.30 USD.
Regards, Bruce

Just recieved my copy of your book Jim, thanks so much for the message inside that you took the time to write for me. I am looking forward to working through it as my one and only reference for piob. Thanks for writing such easy to follow books and publishing easy to follow DVDs. You can rest assured that your hard work is going to some very good use in my hands!
Thank you very much. Michael

There is a bunch of them there in each chapter name similar to the name of the .mp3 files.. Just delete them if your windows based.. Guess Mr. G left them there for Mac enthusiasts.. lol If your using for example. Winamp. When you look in the directory of the files lets say Chapter 4 anything that is playable will have the Winamp Icon beside it.. The others will have nothing.. I don't use a Mac so I deleted them all. Works fine. Mr G. Says there are 9 chapters.. I only got from 3 to 9 chapters.. Where is chapters 1 and 2.. Johnnie |

But there are 10 Chapters. Chapter 1 is 'An Approach to Piobaireachd' and Chapter 2 'Fingering Issues'. Chapter 10 is Reading Piobaireachd Society and Kilberry Book Scores'. Then there's Appendix A and Appendix B.
