I had two PCs made in 2011 (the year I acquired both stands) to match the engraving on my 1901 Lawries and my 1921 Hendersons, and I was incredibly impressed with the workmanship of Dunbar Bagpipes. All three pieces of silver (on each PC) was hand-engraved (and hallmarked) by David at Truehand, and Rick turned down some pieces of ivory I had for the bowls and mouthpieces (and one ferrule). I also had two pieces of instrument-grade, Carribbean cocus wood, and Rick made a full ivory PC from them. I was so taken back by the quality of these chanters that I thought I'd share some pictures. Have a great day! Troy Last edited by Troy Guindon; 04-13-2012 at 10:52 AM. |

In my piping stuff I have a picture of a plain Jane ABW Dunbar with some bling added. I bought an Elite I pipe chanter awhile back also and I have to say their stuff is "perfect every time"

Yes, I know what you are saying - this was my first experience with them in terms of making something from scratch, and I certainly understand what you are sayng, as the workmanship was simply flawless. Honestly, my little camera does not do them justice! Anyway, like I said, I was so impressed with Rick and his team at Dunbar that I had to share my experience. Troy |

Greetings to All,
Some (now) several years back... Dunbar Ltd. and The Bagpipe Place took me under their wings and guided me through the proper identification of...and the then appropriate restoration of... a grand old set of (approximately) WW 1 Lawries. In both their houses there is an unsurpassed breath of knowledge of this multifaceted field... coupled with a consummate craftsmanship... and the patience to see a proper job done... and so be brought to a rightful fruition. Bereft of such qualities myself, I can only suppose that in the back of both of their houses... both Rick and Ringo have some of the Wee Folk... lurking about... unseen in the corners... and helping these matters along... What e're the case, the difficulties, or the project... you'll not go wrong with The Bagpipe Place and Dunbar Ltd. You could not be in better hands... Regards to All, Pip01

Sorry if I digress off topic.
I always enjoy the posts of Pip01 as they are almost poetry. So carefully constructed and evocative of language lost. You should not fear revealing your real-world name. Yours Aye, Alex
