Yes, you can combine them. I use a Moose Valve w/Gannaway MCS in my pipes. The Moose Valve acts as a "first line" of defense against moisture, reducing the workload for my Gannaway system.

Combined, I think it works just as well as a Ross Canister System. Good stuff!

Another yes. I in fact used a Moose valve/Gibson water trap combo this past winter. I've since switched to a Moose valve/Bannatyne bottle trap to reduce weight (this Gibson is 4x heavier), but same concept. This is assuming you're using the universal Gibson version, not the split stock version. I don't think a split stock would work with the Moose valve, but I've never tried it.

Gibson MCS 4x heavier? It's pretty light, how is that possible?

Unless they've changed the materials since the two I bought, it's not that light:

Gibson bottle trap: 9.8 oz
Bannatyne bottle trap: 2.2 oz

Very noticeable difference in the handling of the bag for me. I find the Gibson also alters the angle my blowpipe sits as the bend in the tubing isn't tight enough to not rub my Ross bag in the neck area. Wish they used a 90 degree fitting like the Bannatyne bottle trap.
