Default Glenarley Synthetic Reed

I received one of Dale Jackson's new synthetic reeds in the mail yesterday.
Right out of the package, I tested it in my McLeod chanter alone without pipes, but playing against a synthesized drone track on my computer.

The reed sounded in tune with the concert B flat drones, and also could cross-finger a C nat, F Nat, High G# and High B. I was thrilled!

On putting the chanter into the pipes, however, I found it somewhat stronger than what I'm used to, but still I'd say it shows promise. One significant point: other synthetic chanter reeds I've tried produced a high, whining harmonic, but this reed does not.

Dale has offered to send a softer version to try, so that will be the next step.
I should point out that he made this reed specifically for my old chanter, so can make them for newer standard-pitched or older, concert-pitched chanters.

Updates to follow.
