Default New Hampshire piping scene? Manchester?

As the missus and I ponder where we might want to relocate to from Texas, one of the things I look into is the availability of a local piping community -- bands, games, the usual scene. Can anyone familiar with the area tell me what I might expect to find in southern New Hampshire? This is an area of interest to us and we plan an October trip to reconnoiter all aspects of living there, including making contact with any local piping organizations or individuals. What's up in the Granite State?

There are some pipe bands in the area. Hopefully, Cam Webster, who's there will offer more details. Bear in mind Manchester,NH is pretty centrally located, easy driving distance to Boston, Portsmouth, Portland, ME, Vermont, which also put you within a two-hour drive of a handful of pipemakers, including Gibson, MacHarg, and several makers of smallpipes and uillean pipes.

There's also one of my favourite highland games just north of your chosen area...Loon Mountain.

There is a Hibernian Pipe Band that practices out of Rochester, NH. That's where I started playing pipes. Met the guys of Gibson bagpipes at the NH Highland games and then went to their factory which is in Manchester if I remember correctly.

This is all great information, thanks! I'm salting away everything. Sounds like there are good prospects up there to continue with my playing and studying and keeping up with competitions and other related activities. That's very reassuring.

Every state in New England has its own highland games over the summer. There are also other competitions outside the games. I don't think there's a better place to compete in the US.

MA and NH have some great bands. Catamount is another band to check out. You can look at the EUSPBA site for a list of more bands.

Nashua, NH actually - right downtown. Hard to find but if you GPS it, no issue.
