Some years ago I was in a rather unique situation working in Croatia. The office, at the time, had an international staff of Brits, Scots, Canadians, Germans, along with Professional Translators. One incident which comes to mind involved a Gentleman for Manchester England (AKA a Scouse) and a German Colleague who spoke very good American accented English. I was asked to translate Scouse to English.... Now Cockney isn't too bad, Lowland Scot is easy enough, The Irish Brogue I can follow quite well. However my German abilities are quite lacking though I have a rudimentary grasp. So in the office I was an Manchester English to American English translator for a few issues.

Now imagine Alexa or other AI Wench having to cope with that range of accents... With our luck Alexa probably would of come off with a Asian Indian accent claiming we were all unintelligible and offering us Chai Tea while arranging for more translation services.

Alexa, play some pibroch.... D'oh!

Ha!!!!! You've stirred up some memories now...

Sounds like the times I had in special operations, together with joint special operations forces from UK, and the usual suspects...

When we started drinking at the end of the day...

It was a wonder any General Officer could understand our daily update briefs, as we went around the table, country representative to the next, updating the GO on what had been done in the past 24, that planned in the current 24, and 24 out.

It was never a dull time...boring being away from the family, and when the bad guys didn't want to come out to play...but never dull!

Scousers are from Liverpool. If you call a Mancunian "scouser" you better be able to run pretty quickly.
