Default Hector Russell pipes review

Anyone have any experience on Hector Russell pipes, 1950?

I wish I could say yes.
I posted here awhile back looking to get a set since that's what my dad started with.
Plain orange plastic mounts and all...
I'm also curious to know if Hector Russell actually turned pipes, or marketed somebody else's with their own branding.
Anyway, general consensus back in the day was they were decent.
Not necessarily sought after like a Henderson/Lawrie....but a solid enough band pipe....but that's just an impression...
I'm looking forward to hearing players with first hand knowledge...

I had someone contact our band with a set her grandfather bought, expecting her father to learn the pipes. New in the box, and never set up! I found a wealth of information about them on "The Bagpipe Place" and Jim McGilvery's (sp) websites. If I remember correctly, the Hector Russell's have a connection to Sinclair.
