Default Cabar Feidh

A number of years ago, I was given an arrangement by John and Roddy MacDonald, South Uist of Cabar Feidh as a 2/4 competition march. It came out of a published book. Any idea which?

Henderson's Tutor for the Bagpipe and Collection of Pipe Music or in Ross's Collection of Pipe Music
Look for them both on ceolsean.net and in Bob Pekaar's Bagpipe Tune Index.

Thanks but neither the Henderson's Tutor version nor the William Ross version is that arranged by the MacDonald brothers. Paul

Curious...why the allegiance to that particular setting...and how many in other books is virtually the same for nearly all intents.

Surprisingly it’s not at all in the Seaforths book ...entitled Cabar Feidh.

Anyone know who was the original composer?

Speculating, but I suspect the version in Henderson's Tutor was the genesis for the arrangement you were given, unless you know for sure it was directly out of whatever book it was - which must have been fairly rare to escape Bob Pekaar's notice.

Some things are better not enquired into...

Hahaha....When I lived / worked in Holland for a few year a while years back I always got a kick out of the alleged to be Dutch saying...” ...even an idiot can ask a question ten learn-ed men can’t answer”...
