Colleagues:
I am still looking for the name of the piece ( and source of sheet music for) that is played in Season 2, Episode 9 of the Outlander series. Does anyone know the name of the tune and/or a source for finding it? Mark |

If anyone can isolate a clip that would be helpful. However, it is worth saying that much music for these kinds of productions is written specifically for the show with the express intention of sounding like pre-existing music, without actually copying it.

Yes you would have to provide a clip of the bit you're talking about.
Outlander uses loads of trad tunes in the score, but also has composed incidental music. The latter aren't "tunes" per se but rather leitmotifs (themes). If Outlander follows general practice, the composer will have composed leitmotif for each of the main characters. Sometimes a location will also be treated in this way, for example a particular castle might have its own theme. As a show progresses through more seasons, and new characters and locations appear, new leitmotifs have to be composed. Here's a fantastic introduction to how it all works, however on a different show (GOT). This video is well worth the watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28ijORpwGC0
