Dan is really old fashioned, but he told me that he doesn't care about it if that's the pipes you already have or have your heart set on it. He prefers the military look, but is willing to deal with the chalice tops if he has to. I spoke to him about it today.. and fortunately I like Roddy's original shape the most.

Also, the next nearest band to me is many hours away. I have friends in the band and couldn't imagine playing with anybody else.

The only thing he absolutely refuses to have in the band are really outlandish pipes, like drones corded together with barbed wire with flames shooting out the tops.

If anybody is interested, Roddy has sent me photos of a stand he made mounted with Olivewood.

They do look good. I'll share some pictures of mine when they arrive too.

I don't know if it's appropriate to post in this old thread again, but here's a few updates to my MacLellans:

Blackwood with original profile, normal beading/combing, Moose Antler projecting mounts styled after Lawrie mounts (sorta), aluminum ferrules, tuning pins, chanter sole, and drone tops. The drone tops are going to be unique as well, they'll be aluminum bands with blackwood middles, all flush with no raised beads; similar to this, only replace the ivory with aluminum.

Very very nice Kyle!

Personally I much prefer a profile like that, a traditional profile, over Roddy's distinctive, creative, quirky profile.

Can we see the entire set?

Speaking of tangents, what ales do you spend your college-student money on at the pubs?

Well when I get them I'll post a picture! That photo is of the drone style I requested (except with aluminum around the bells). I'm not sure what profile I want yet, his original or traditional.

And regarding the ales; I've been homebrewing for a while now, and am currently enjoying one of my recipes. It's a chocolate oatmeal bourbon stout.. with lactose, so I guess you could call it an Oatmeal Cream Chocolate Bourbon Stout, but that's a mouthful. If I'm not drinking my own, I like to be cheap and get sampler packs... they're all on sale right now!
