Default FS: MacLellan Mopane & Silver GHB - $1,950

Well, this WAS going to be my "forever" set. That is until an exquisite set of half silvers came my way that I could not pass on.

For sale as sticks, stocks, and blowpipe. No chanter, no reeds.

2014 MacLellan GHB in Mopane. Original profile, fully combed and beaded, button mounts, engraved Sterling silver slides, antiqued imitation ivory ferrules and caps. Have a look at the photos in the link below. Everything on this pipe is gorgeous. The wood is finished like glass and you can really see the detail in the grain. The Victorian engraving is awesome.

I played this set with Canning drone reeds with the carbon fiber bass. Having also played original profile MacLellan's in African blackwood with the same reeds I can tell you (to my ear, anyway) the Mopane set has the same room-filling sound, it's just a warmer umbrella to stand under. I often found myself paying more attention to the glow of the drones than to my chanter.

The condition of these pipes is excellent. I did shorten the plastic mouthpiece. The overall length of the blowstick is 9.5 inches measured from the tip to the bottom of the mount. The plastic mouthpiece is threaded so it's easily replaced if you need a longer one. On the bass drone stock you can see the shadow of where my Sterling shield by David Davidse was mounted with silicone. (Sorry, I have to keep that part!)

Purchased new these pipes cost: $1,600 drones, $650 engraved Sterling slides, $100 antiqued imitation ivory ferrules and caps. Total: $2,350 and you'd wait a year to get them.

PM me with questions.
