True; second only to harvesting for baby oil

I have heard the OP play.
Good piper.

Have you tried taping the bottom of the hole?
I have not done that myself, but I have seen the hole taped top, bottom, and sides, so that it becomes a little square hole.

As a radiation therapist we suggest corn starch baby powder to our patients if they need something to help with moisture and friction areas. This product has been out several years. The corn starch used in this baby powder is modified somehow and it doesn't clump or gob up like the cornstarch used for cooking.

Maybe you should try "Birl Powder"

I've developed it myself, and it's nearly ready for marketing. Mix of Talcum and dried crushed desiccated midges from Glenfinnan, Arisaig and Morar Games. If your taste is more Speyside, I can reccomend the Tomintoul, Corgach and Braemar species.

Still working on a vegan product. Patent applied for, but should be ready for the 2021 season

So what will actually work? If everyone seems to claim that sebum (i.e. face oil) is enough, what else will work? For me, rubbing my face just by itself doesn't help enough and I still get sticky birls.
Meanwhile here are some recordings I made just today.

Keep in mind if I'm verbose, most of my subscribers on Youtube are not pipers, including my BFF Hailey. So that's why I go out of my way to explain things that I can imagine pipers might be tired of hearing all the time, no?
I heard your birls on the second link you provided. Some of them came out ok, some were a little crushed. Something I was taught learning violin, banjo, bagpipes, martial arts, is to start slow and build speed. Something else my instructors told me was, regardless of how well technique is conducted, if it starts sounding wrong, you have to slow it down, break it apart to find the cause and fix it, then practice it slow and rebuild speed.

baby powder made from Corn Starch is still available, The issue seems to be with Talcum-based products which may (or may not) contain asbestos.
